Use of AI Tools in Teaching–Learning English

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most influential technological developments in modern education. In English Language Teaching (ELT), AI tools have transformed traditional teaching methods by making learning more interactive, personalized, and learner-centered. AI-powered applications such as chatbots, grammar-correction tools, speech-recognition software, and intelligent tutoring systems help students improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. These technologies also assist teachers in lesson planning, assessment, feedback, and classroom management. Integrating AI into English education promotes independent learning, motivation, and effective communication skills. However, challenges such as technological dependence, ethical concerns, reduced human interaction, and digital inequality continue to affect implementation. This research paper examines the role, applications, benefits, limitations, and prospects of AI tools in teaching and learning English. The study concludes that AI can significantly improve English education when used responsibly under proper teacher guidance.
